Last week the Boy Scouts of America celebrated their 100th anniversary with a once in 4 years Jamboree. Past Presidents have routinely spoken at the quadrenniel event and it was thought that Obama would speak in person this year considering the importance of the anniversary.
Instead he sent a taped message so he could attend a fundraiser in New York City and appear on the women’s daytime discussion program “The View.”
Here’s what the Boy Scouts thought about the snub:
A Conservative blogger says “it doesn’t appear that Obama’s pre-recorded message was warmly received that day.”
But, you will see that an urgent message has been appended: “JUST FYI TO ALL YOU IDIOTS OUT THERE WE WERE BOOING HIM CAUSE HE DIDN’T SHOW UP, THAT’S ALL!!!!!” And the caption to video reads:
every president since bill clinton has made a speech at the national jamboree. Obama decided to skip this one at Fort AP Hill Virginia, for The View. All we got was a lousy recorded message
Never mind the fact that “every president since Bill Clinton” would be George W. Bush. It’s clear that the Boy Scouts are in fact booing out of a perverted love for Obama—they’re mad that he spurned them! Why can’t we leave the Boyscouts out of our petty political squabbles?
Listen as one boy yells “I hope you are watching this.” Sadly, Obama doesn’t care what the Scouts think or what anyone who opposes his policies thinks. After all, his spokesman Robert Gibbs dismissed the huge turnout and overwhelming protest vote against Obama Care in Missouri last week. He said it meant “nothing.”
Of course had Obama appeared in person we would expect that the Scouts would have behaved with the utmost decorum and respect. But then again, considering how Obama seeks to undermine the values of honor, duty, patriotism and love of country that the Scouts hold dear they might have booed him anyway.
The story here should be how disrespectful these boy scouts were to the president of the United States. A personal address by the president is not a right, it is a privilege. The idea that addressing the BSA is some kind of traditional duty like the State of the Union address or the annual Easter egg hunt is a blatant attempt to politicize something that’s not political.
These kids are not to be sympathized with, they are to be reprimanded for bringing dishonor to their organization
