Every year at the end of the august, a rumor surfaces the internet that people will see two moons in the sky at the same time on 27 August. This rumors is not totally hoax , because on August Mars planet will come extremely near to the Earth. It will come within 34,649,589 miles to earth. Due to this reason, it will look like the earth has 2 moons.

Double moon

The mars will begin to show in the sky from the begging of august with dim light. But after passing of days, it will grow brighter and brighter. It will be the brightest, after the moon and in the sky it will see near about 12:30 AM. When two moons will appear in the sky, it will be visible to the naked eye. This type of moment is occurred once in every 277 years after and again it will happen in the year 2287. Scientifically it can be confirmed that this news is only a rumour. According to experts, the current position of Mars is farthest from the Earth. This distance has never been achieved before. Last time, Earth and Mars came closer in 2003.

NASA has also reported that there is no such thing as two moons showing in the skies over the world. And that this rumor started in 2003 and has since reoccurred at the end of August every year since.

According to NASA, it would be impossible for Mars to pass by Earth so closely and that it would be perceived to be the size of the moon. If this did happen, we wouldn’t be so happy about it because it would mean that the orbits had gone crazy. Even on August 27, 2003, when Mars did come oddly close, it only looked like regular twinkling star to the blank eye.
