Two students of the Rutgers University, Dharun Ravi and Molly Wei have been charged with bias charges in connection with broadcasting a sexual encounter in case of Tyler Clement suicide who is Ravi’s roommates. Molly Wei’s computer has been used to live-stream the sex act between Tyler Clement and another university boy. The sexual tape of Tyler was displayed on the Internet via Twitter account Dharun Ravi.

Tyler Clement and Dharun Ravi were the roommates but they were neither friends nor someone saw them talking to each other on the university campus. Tyler Clement wants to change his room. For this purpose, he also talked with University management. According to news, Tyler Clement committed suicide jumping off the George Washington Bridge parting Upper Manhattan, New Jersey. As per medical examiner, his death is occurred due to drowning and blunt force trauma to the torso, but many have blamed Ravi and Wei for causing the circumstances leading to Clementi’s death.

Through a statement issued by a lawyer, his family confirmed Clementi had committed suicide. “Tyler was a fine young man and a distinguished musician. The family is heartbroken beyond words. They respectfully request that they be given time to grieve their great loss and that their privacy at this painful time be respected by all,” the Clementi family said. “The family and their representatives are cooperating fully with the ongoing criminal investigations of two Rutgers University students,” the statement said.

According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan, to collect or view images depicting nudity or sexual content of an individual without that person’s consent is a fourth-degree crime in which two students were alleged. If the images are transmitted or distributed, it becomes a third degree crime. On 27 September, 2010 Wei was released on bail and on 28th September, 2010 Ravi was released on bail of $ 25 000.

On 22nd September, 2010 earlier in the evening, Clementi had posted a chilling goodbye message on his Facebook page and was spotted on the walkway of the George Washington Bridge on that night. “Jumping off the gw bridge sorry,” Clementi wrote on Facebook before jumping to his death. Sources tell PIX 11 News, Clementi’s car was later discovered along the New Jersey border with both his cell phone and computer inside.

Dharun Ravi Facebook account contains lots of worst messages but his Facebook account is closed due to Tyler Clement suicide case. Dharun Ravi receives messages in his community; some of them are as follows.

Cindy Dubow: dharun and molly should be ashamed of themselves, they should both be charged with murder, they are both a disgrace to the human race!!!! shame on you!!! you should both jump!!!

Jay Man: Yahoo news had an article: A friend of Dharun said that Dharun had gay friends and both he and Molly were not homophobic. Well, obviously they ARE homophobic, to do this. It’s not black and white: You can say nice things about gay ppl and be tolerant MOST of the time, but your true colors shine through if you do somethi……ng homophobic like this.

Karsten Barabas: why are you all posting comments as if they made this themselves? they’re not gonna see you yelling at them through facebook and if they do they wont respond

Carlos Padilla: Seriously? What the hell is wrong with you two? You caused a bright young man to choose suicide, and you have by extension ended the possibility of your lives being positive. Was your prank worth all this? Yes you are young but come on. What do you think your reaction would be if Tyler was your child?

Mike Connolly: What’s unfortunate about this case, is the two students involved probably won’t face prison time, and the justification for Dharun’s innocence by his friends only solidifies his lack of remorse and understanding of how grave this act of hate was. We need to work on getting legislation passed that using technology (face…book, aim, twitter etc) in acts of harassment is on the books so subhumans like these two get a rightful punnishment.

Robert Hampton: How many times did u get laid at that age? Wasn’t it the most special time of your life? Privacy is what will determine this sad loss, but queers and queer supporters, let’s not lose another classmate, whether they are 8 or 18 share your lives with kids and let them know they can literally turn a trajic moment into a musical…..

They need to go to jail. Whether they meant for this to escalate or not – internet privacy violation will only stop when jail happens. If they are the scrapegoats – well they DO deserve it. It is a hate crime.

Evil and Pure Wicked Dharun to set up his skype was pre-meditated and Evil Dhurunn was all hyped and run to dirty Molly’s room and spread it around. That is pure evil, pure jealous to do this to this fine elegant man and Evil Dharun had to project his own insecurity and his own lack self-respect and ooze his evil and he only 3 wks in College. I say Pay in prision Evil Dharun. A man’s reputation is like gold the bible say. God hates wickedness on this kind gentle kine soul Tyler. Let prision take Evil Dharun and let justice be servesd. I am angry at the wickedness of people. I have sadness for poor Tyler who was so distraught from wicke Evil Dharun.

Dharun is such a disgrace to our culture! I know that we come from a closed minded society, but being a second generation American, it is us who is to change that attitude and want to be more open minded. Well, Dharun, you certainly are making a change!! Because of your inconsiderate, unlawful, hateful decision to hurt a human soul, the rest of us can learn that being closed minded has its horrible consequences. I hope you live this incredible nightmare for you till the end of your time on this earth, because what you put that young man through is something no one should ever have to go through, something he had to endure and suffer until his last breath. Shame on you Wei! Coming from the Asian continent, we are supposed to be cultured and learned people, you both are the exceptions to that theory. To say that you both made it to college is a surprise, because your actions prove to be otherwise.

I hope these two low life sorry excuses for human beings get what they deserve and that is to feel the same humilation and shame that Tyler Clementi felt. I also hope the consequence of their dispicable actions haunt them for the rest of their life.

  7. Dan says:

If he hadn’t commited suicide, would anyone care? If he would have been caught with a women would all the gay activists be on there case like a fat kid and cake?

  8. melissa says:
