The three Rajasthan policemen were sent to jail by the Supreme Court on Monday for bobbitizing a person in custody. The person was in custody for allegedly being in an illegal relationship with the wife of a cop’s relative, in which cops of the Sadar police station in Rajasthan’s Barmer district chopped off the penis of that innocent man is the violence of the case, annoyed the Bench comprising Justices Markandey Katju and T S Thakur. Judges said that some uniformed workers are still anguish from a “colonial mindset” that seems to be a situation to the cops’ clear conviction that they could get away with the cruelty.

In 1994, Constable Kishore Singh had used a razor of barber to chop off the organ of the victim, got the utmost punishment of 5 years in jail and a fine of Rs 50,000. ASI Sumer Dan was charged to 3 years in jail and asked to pay a fine of Rs 50,000 due to he had caught hold of the victim. SHO Sohan Singh was sent to jail for 6 months and fined Rs 10,000 as he was involved in the crime that happened inside the police station. The SC directed that the fine amount would be paid to the victim as compensation.

Justice Katju has written in the judgment for the Bench that it is the duties of the policemen to defend the people and not to break the law themselves so policemen, who commit criminal acts, deserve harsher punishment than others. The Bench said after referring to a 1997 judgment, 13 years ago, third-degree methods in police stations had been banned by the apex court. “However it is familiar that third-degree methods are still extensively used in many police stations, as this case reveals.

Above information is very painful that without any reason a human being does cruel to another human being and show that there would be no difference between humans and animals.
