Recently, Toshiba has unveiled an impressive new Android 2.1 smartphone called the Toshiba REGZA IS04. Know the Specs & Review of latest smartphone, Toshiba REGZA IS04.

Latest smartphone, the Toshiba REGZA IS04 has been unveiled by Toshiba. Specifications and reviews of this new Android 2.1 Smartphone is given below.

Toshiba REGZA IS04 is the second KDDI Android smartphone for the Japanese market which will be released in January 2011 in Japan. But maybe its specifications can convince some people to import it.

A full specification breakdown has been not released yet, but as per some sources it has a 4-inch display which supports a resolution of 854 x 480, a 12.19 megapixel autofocus camera, a microSDHC memory card slot and a 1GHz Snapdragon processor.

Its 12.19 megapixel sensor is marginally better than the Nokia N8‘s but it is proved that sometimes higher megapixel cameras don’t always produce the sharp images as you expect, it will be interesting to see what is better.

You will get WiFi b/g (no N), Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity and it will connect to the new EVDO system which will offer you 9.2Mbps downlinks and 5.5Mbps uplinks.

It is expected that when it arrives in January 2011, this device will run Android 2.1 Eclair as standard, hopefully an update to Android 2.2 FroYo will arrive soon otherwise this smartphone will find it hard to impact the market.

The Toshiba REGZA IS04 comes with 12.19 megapixel camera with auto-focus feature by which you can get better clicks. The CMOS censor promises optimum quality pictures. REGZA IS04 is designed water proof by Toshiba to avert damage from water and other fluids.

Toshiba has packed a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor to run the show but the operating system is still Android 2.1. It has a 4-inch 854×480 touchscreen with FWVGA LCD panel for smooth viewing and navigation.

To hold all those massive images, it has a microSDHC card slot. A flash-light and multi touch feature adds to the show.  There is no word yet on the North American or European release dates but it is expected to get a Froyo update by March.
