Olive Pad: India’s first 3.5G Pad launched by Olive Telecom

On 22nd July, 2010 India’s leading Convergence Solutions Device Developer, Olive Telecom launched OlivePad — VT100 which is India’s first 3.5G Pad tablet. The device was revealed by Mr. Arun Khanna, Chairman, Olive Telecom Mr. David Hind, CEO, Olive Telecom, Americas and Mr. Artem Orange, CEO, Olive CIS/CEE.

Olive brings India to the forefront of convergence technology with the OlivePad after the successful launch of many Industry firsts like OliveFrvrOn (India’s 1st Hybrid Phone), OliveZipbook (India’s 1st 3G embedded Netbook), OliveWiz (India’s 1st Triple SIM Qwerty device), OliveGenie (India’s 1st 3G Music Modem) & OLiveNexus (India’s 1st Pocket Router). The sale of OlivePad VT100 will be started in August, 2010. It will be available at Croma outlets soon.

The price of the OlivePad VT100 is expected to be Rs.20000-25000 which puts in the same league as the iPad. According to the company, OlivePad — VT100 launched in India first but has seen interest in Central, Eastern Europe and Russia and expects to launch Olive Pad in those markets in the near future. With an inbuilt three mega pixel camera and a front camera, Olive Pad can be used as a touch notebook for browsing, multimedia, instant messaging and social networking, GPS for maps and turn by turn directions, gaming console and also as e-book reader and TV.

Olive Pad operates on an Android Operating System and supports 3.5G HSUPA, Wi-fi, and Bluetooth. It is designed as a multi functional device. It also has a smartphone which allows voice and video calling. The new Olive Convergence portfolio is complete with WCDMA, CDMA, GSM and EV-DO handsets and smart-phones, Mobile Computing Devices and Advanced data modems for wireless broadband. This glossy appearing tablet also has Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) and Bluetooth support. Olive has also added compass, G-sensor, ambient light sensor and dual speakers in the tablet.
