LG Optimus 2X – Specs & Video emerged of world’s 1st dual-core smartphone

Recently LG Electronics (LG) released the world’s 1st dual-core smartphone LG Optimus 2X, formerly called as the LG Star, just few days before New Year so it looks as if LG wants to end the 2010 year with a blissful glory. LG Optimus 2X is proficient for recording and playing 1080p HD video and is powered by the dual-core Tegra 2 processor developed by NVIDIA, which runs at a clock speed of 1GHz and provides low power consumption and superior audio and video performance. Also LG states that the dual-core processor permits for quicker web browsing and touch response.

The Optimus’ Nvidia Tegra 2 chip is going to deliver flawless transitions and multitasking without any obvious lag in comparison to other smart phones running on single-core processors at the similar clock speed. 8GB memory (flexible up to 32GB), a 4-inch screen, dual camera (1.3MP front, 8MP back), full HD video playback and HDMI mirroring, which lets you to output your videos on to the big screen is included in this device. Also the handset boasts an accelerometer and a gyro sensor and a 1500mAh battery.

Originally the phone will be released with Android 2.2 (Froyo) and will be upgradeable to Android Gingerbread so no need to be nervous on missing out the Android 2.3 party. In local markets the upgrade plan will be announced in due course. LG will ship its device in Korea next month, with a launch in Europe and Asia next on the list but unfortunately a North American launch not mentioned. We remain optimistic that the handset will land stateside in form or another, however pricing has not been revealed yet.

CEO and President of LG’s mobile unit, Dr. Jong-seok Park said in a press release, “Dual-core technology is the next leap forward in mobile technology so this is no small achievement to be the first to offer a smartphone utilizing this technology,” and further added, “With unique features such as HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) mirroring and exceptional graphics performance, the LG Optimus 2X is proof of LG’s commitment to high-end smartphones in 2011.”
