Maurice Clarett is going back to school at Ohio State University School. Before spending almost four years in prison for aggravated robbery and carrying a concealed weapon he helped lead Ohio State to the 2002 national championship.

Jim Lynch, director of media relations for Ohio State said, “Maurice Clarett has been granted re-entry into the Ohio State University, following a review by the College of Education and Human Ecology.”
Maurice Edward Clarett is a former American college football player who born on October 29, 1983 in Youngstown, Ohio. Maurice Clarett is well known for unsuccessfully challenging the NFL’s rule that a player must have been out of high school for three years to be eligible for the entry draft, and for his tumultuous life in and out of the courtroom afterwards. He attended the same pre-school as Ken Dorsey (quarterback for the Miami Hurricanes), whom he would later run into in the 2002 national championship game.
Probably, he wants every person to forget about that stuff as he heads back to school this summer at OSU.
Jim Lynch, Director of Media Relations said in a statement issued earlier today, “Maurice Clarett has been granted reentry into The Ohio State University, following a review by the College of Education and Human Ecology, where he was originally enrolled. Maurice resumed his academic career on July 26 for the start of the second half of the university’s summer quarter.”
In a statement Maurice Clarett said, “This is a surreal feeling to be back at Ohio State in such a supportive environment. I have looked forward to being back in school and I’m doing my best to fit in with other students. I don’t want to be a distraction or nuisance to the football team or to students on campus.”
He realizes during a portion of his three and a half year prison and he thought, “One thing that really frustrates me is that I have not been relevant to my family for the past four summers. That puts a chip on my shoulder. I have no one to blame but myself. The thoughts just put me in a zone like no other. It puts me in my “One and only” mode. I know that there is no way for me to make up for lost time but hopefully my actions in the future will help them to forget all that’s taken place in the past. I never thought I’d once again be in the position of thinking how am I going to get out of this rut. I think that the longer I wait the more serious I become. I think it’s because I have a good understanding on what it means to be physically free.”
