The voters are searching locations for the Election Day, Tuesday, 2 November 2010. More than the past few years, technology is increased so it is easy to find nearest voting locations. People can easily find their closet voting locations with the help of Google’s “Where to Vote” link. People will find a huge search bar at the Google Election Center page.

People can easily search their nearest voting location with the help of two new services. People can use “Mobile Polling Place Locator” service to find a voting booth with cell phone over SMS (text) messaging. People have to text the word “WHERE” to 30644. If people speak Spanish, they can text the word “DONDE” instead of “WHERE”. Or people can search from a huge search bar at the Google Election Center page. People need to enter full home address where they are registered to vote, making sure that they have entered their city and state. Then all the details will be shown for them.

If people, who have either voted once before or have not voted at all, can find their voting location by ZIP Code at URL: http://pollingplaces.raiseyourvote.com. People, who are at least 65 years of age or are sick or disabled, or confined in jail, but eligible to vote, can vote by mail. If any person will be out of Harris County for any reason from Oct. 18-29 and on Nov. 2, so he can not vote by mail in person both during the early vote period or on Election Day. To vote by mail, people must fill out and mail an application so that they will be sent a ballot.

Election Day Voting information:

  • You are allowed to vote without being harassed or frightened by anyone.
  • Carry personal identification with you to the polls such as driver’s license, government ID, bank statement or utility bill.
  • You do not require your voter registration card.
  • A list of eligible voters will be contained by every poll for a particular location. If your name is not on that list, the election worker should call the Elections Office to observe if your registration can be located.
  • You must be allowed to cast a “provisional ballot”, in the case, you are told that you cannot vote because your name is not on the list, or because your identification is not accepted. Disabled people or over the age of 65 have the right to an accessible polling place and help in voting.
  • You may carry written materials into the voting booth to assist you as you cast your ballot.
