People of Indiana who are facing the problem of unemployment can start applying for unemployment insurance extensions immediately. Sign-up of unemployment benefits in Indiana starts from Tuesday, August 3, 2010.

Indiana Department of Workforce Development authorities offer unemployment insurance extensions program to the Indiana residents who are eligible for that. Under unemployment benefits, the benefits which are provided can available now, according to the Indiana authorities. Earlier it was declared that people have to wait until 3rd August, 2010 because the department has to complete computer programming. The program has been finished on 2nd August, 2010. People who are eligible for this program can apply online as soon as possible.

Indiana Department of Workforce Development authorities also started to post vouchers for eligible to avail. By this, one can say that the unemployment situation in Indiana is slowly improving and it also creates more jobs vacancies as compare to other US states. This situation also indicates the improving economy of Indiana States. The claim rate data’s correctness can be deceived as the calculation excludes those who have exhausted their unemployment insurance claim.

Mark W. Everson, Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Workforce Development says, “Our team worked extra hours to make sure this complex new law is properly handled in our system. We are now confident that has been accomplished, so Hoosiers can begin filing ahead of schedule.”

For the Department of Workforce Development, there are 27 full-service WorkOne Centers. Until August 6, 2010 all the centers of DWD are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday,. Approximately 80,000 Hoosiers are estimated by the new federal legislation that is eligible for unemployment compensation. Almost equals to 250,000 weeks of payments.

By using online filing system of Indiana, the residents of Indiana have to fill out their weekly vouchers with the purpose of qualify for retroactive unemployment benefits. Workers have to show that they lost their job without his wrong-doing to qualify for unemployment benefits. Worker need to report their work each week and any outside income sources need to be given, if applicable. One voucher needs to be completed for each week of claimed unemployment benefits.

Each person has to apply at their local WorkOne Center for the Extended Benefits which comes at the end of the benefits period and bring their eligibility letter from the DWD.

    I have filled my vouchers by August 2nd. I called the unemployment telephone number and they told me that I cannot recieve my benefits even though I got a card in the mail that says I have been extended and I filled out 6 weeks worth of vouchers. What is going On?

    I have been trying to see if I am eligible for another extension yet I am not sure how to go about it . Nothing on my home page indicates how to activate the screen for refiling.
